Herr Mike’s Top 10 Beers of 2016

By Herr Mike

Another beer drinking year has passed us by and it’s time for my top 10 beer picks for 2016.

Some of you may have been drinking these beers for years, but remember, this is the first time I have had the pleasure of quaffing these tasty brews. You may disagree with some of my choices, but that is OK because there are so many awesome beers out there to choose from.

The list of beers are in no particular order. Click on the beer name to check out my full review of it.

If you have any beers that you thought were outstanding for 2016 please leave it in the comments below. Let’s hope 2017 brings us more tasty choices. PROST!

Duvel Tripel Hop 2016 (HBC-291)

A super hopped version of the Belgium classic. I love Belgian Strong Pales and IPA’s so this is a perfect hybrid brew for me.

Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale

An impressive Wee Heavy offering from Central Waters. On point with everything so if you’re looking for a big boozy earthy brew to enjoy on a cold rainy night , this beer will not disappoint.

Lagunitas Born Yesterday Pale Ale

Another amazing brew from Lagunitas. Juicy tropical fruits and some slightly chewy dankness with a nice malt backbone to balance everything out.

Stillwater A Saison Darkly

I love a good Saison and this dark version has a deep flavor that dances on your tongue spreading spicy goodness that lingers long after the last sip.

Otter Creek 25th Anniversary Double IPL

Not being a big Lager drinker this beer was full of flavor and almost went down like a DIPA.

Founders Pale Joe

I’m not a huge APA or coffee drinker but I could drink two or three of these “Joe’s” no problem.

Long Trail Space Juice

Long Trail stepped it up so much with this brew that they are up there (In my book) with some of the best brewers of IPA’s in the country.

Allagash Little Brett

This “Little: guy packs a ton of fruity funky flavor. Hard to believe it’s a session beer.

New Belgium Trippel

This is one of the best American Tripels I’ve had for the money. The style is spot on with all the fruitiness and spice of a Tripel from Belgium.

Ommegang Game of Thrones #6 – Seven Kingdoms

Hoppy and citrusy with some nice spice and Belgium funk make this a must try.
