Herr Mike’s Top 10 Beers of 2018

By Herr Mike

Here are some of my top picks of craft beers I drank during 2018.

Some of these beers are new this year and some have been around for a while, but this is my first time drinking them. If you read any of my previous “Best Of” articles in the past you know the drill.

The beers are not listed in any special order and the link to the full review and ratings of each beer can be found by clicking in the beer’s name.

If you have any beers that you thought were outstanding for 2018 please leave it in the comments below.

Firestone Walker Dark & Stormy (2018)

I love Firestone Walker so I was excited when they brewed a BA beer based on my favorite summer cocktail.

Boulevard – AZ Wilderness – Creature Comforts Collaboration No. 7 Oak-Aged Lager

I like Boulevard’s stuff and this collab brew doesn’t disappoint. This is the perfect beer to convert your white wine drinking friends to craft beer.

SweetWater 420 Strain G13 IPA

Hop Hash was my favorite beer from SweetWater, but then they discontinued it. This beer is now my new favorite. You get a nice balance of tropical fruit and dankness with a solid malt backbone.

Lord Hobo Angelica

What an awesome beer! A brew that screams citrus. If you like hazy IPA’s or wheat beers this is a must buy.

Allagash Brewing Map 40

A Belgian take on the coffee stout and it’s awesome. A ton of coffee and chocolate flavors with a creamy mouthfeel makes this a must try.

Samuel Adams Sam ’76

Talk about a hybrid beer. This experiment from Sam Adams works for me. Very tasty and crushable .

Off Color Sibling Rivalry

I’ve had many American Tripel’s and this one is pretty tasty. Very fruit forward with a nice layer of spiciness makes this a must try

Weyerbacher Daywrecker

I like when a brewery takes a basic beer like a Pale Ale and pumps it up, both in ABV and flavor. This beer is like “The Incredible Hulk” of Pale Ales.

Crooked Stave Colorado Wild Sage Brett Saison

This is the second beer I’ve had from this brewery and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. Just enough funk and the lemongrass and sage make my taste buds dance.

Lagunitas Super Cluster

This is a juice bomb! Lots of citrus and tropical fruits punch your taste buds in such a good way.
